North Uttlesford Primary Care Network

The Government’s plan for the health service is for new resources to be increasingly shared across groups of GP surgeries, working together to achieve shared goals in a “Primary Care Network” or PCN. Crocus Medical Practice is therefore working closely with colleagues at Newport Surgery, Thaxted Surgery and Gold Street Surgery to plan and deliver services together. This enables us to employ shared staff through the PCN that could not be afforded by a single surgery working alone. All these staff are healthcare or allied professionals, bound by the same strict codes of confidentiality and discretion as the doctors and nurses working at the main surgery. These staff include Clinical Pharmacists, GP Assistants, Health and Well-being Coaches, Mental Health professionals, Paramedics, Physiotherapists, Social Prescribers, and others. They work closely with the doctors and nurses at the surgery, both with specific patients and with groups of patients identified as potentially needing additional care.

Health Visitors

A health visitor is a registered nurse who has received training particularly related to babies, children and pregnant women. Their role is to provide families with children under five years old with support and advice around the general aspects of mental, physical and social wellbeing.
