 FLU CLINICS AT CROCUS MEDICAL PRACTICE

(Please read)

 

We now have clinics set up for our 2020/21 Flu season and would like to encourage all our eligible patients to book for their annual flu vaccine.

We will be prioritising those patients over 65 years and our young patients, who may be at risk due to underlying health conditions.

We also have additional vaccine for those patients living with someone who is shielding, or who may be at high risk of complications from Covid-19.

If you are unsure regarding your entitlement to a free flu vaccination, then please contact the surgery for advice.

All our Flu clinics will be run safely and with regard to the UK Government guidelines on social distancing. We are expecting over 300 patients across the two sites on two of our Saturday clinics, therefore we would be grateful if you can bear in mind the following advice before you attend the clinics on Saturday 19th September and Saturday 3rd October.

  • Face coverings are mandatory. Please provide your own.
  • Absolutely NO parking available at the surgery, drop off only.
  • Wear loose clothing and be ready to receive the vaccination.
  • Turn up at your allocated time slot.
  • No additional family members, unless they are carers.
  • There will be NO toilet facilities available.
  • Flu clinic only. No additional problems can be discussed.
  • We hope that your appointment from start to finish will be no longer than 15 minutes.

We will also be providing nasal flu vaccines for our patients aged 2 and 3 years old, in addition to vulnerable children up to the age of 17 years. These appointments can be booked separately from the allocated Flu clinics.

As you are possibly aware, the UK Government has extended the winter flu vaccination programme to include all healthy individuals aged 50 years and older.

All being well, these clinics will run from November 2020 onwards. More information to follow.

 Coronavirus (COVID-19)

 

The latest guidance from the Government has changed.

If you have either:

  1. A raised temperature or fever and/ or
  2. A new continuous cough and/or
  3. Loss of sense of smell and taste

And you are so ill that you've stopped doing your usual daily activities

 You must call 111 and speak to a nurse

(The phone will be very busy but you need to wait to speak to someone)

 You need to stay away from other people until you have spoken to 111 (self-isolate)

 To protect others DO NOT GO to a GP, pharmacy or hospital

 NHS 111 also has an interactive online coronavirus service that can tell you if you need medical help and advise you what you need to do.

If you require urgent medical assistance, which is not life threatening but cannot wait until the surgery re-opens, please dial 111.  Calls to the NHS111 service are free from both landlines and mobiles.  For a life threatening medical emergency dial 999.

PATIENT PARTICIPATION GROUP                                 
We need some volunteers to join our Patient Participation Group to help us to ensure that we are providing the services you need from us. We would like to be able to contact patients to ask them questions about the surgery. If you can spare a little time please complete the form below or ask for one from reception.

We are pleased to announce that Dr Dita Fridrichova has joined the practice covering Dr Lindford's maternity leave.

We are pleased to announce that we now have two registrars, two physiotherapists and two paramedic practitioners working with us at the practice

Dr Will Flinn (m) - new GP Registrar and will be with the surgery until February 2021.

Dr Gohar Saeed (f) - Our GP Registrar and will be with the surgery until February 2021

Paramedic - Vicky Bryning - is working with us doing home visits.

Paramedic Practitioners - Abigail Merrell & David Binns are now working with the surgery doing home visits and supporting the doctors with frailty clinics 

Practice Policies

Confidentiality & Medical Records

Locked blue folderThe practice complies with data protection and access to medical records legislation. Identifiable information about you will be shared with others in the following circumstances:

  • To provide further medical treatment for you e.g. from district nurses and hospital services.
  • To help you get other services e.g. from the social work department. This requires your consent.
  • When we have a duty to others e.g. in child protection cases.

Anonymised patient information will also be used at local and national level to help the Health Board and Government plan services e.g. for diabetic care. If you do not wish anonymous information about you to be used in such a way, please let us know.

Reception and administration staff require access to your medical records in order to do their jobs. These members of staff are bound by the same rules of confidentiality as the medical staff.

Freedom of Information

Information about the General Practioners and the practice required for disclosure under this act can be made available to the public. All requests for such information should be made to the practice manager.

Access to Records

In accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998 and Access to Health Records Act, patients may request to see their medical records. Such requests should be made through the practice manager and may be subject to an administration charge. No information will be released without the patient consent unless we are legally obliged to do so.

Complaints

Customer service formWe make every effort to give the best service possible to everyone who attends our practice.

However, we are aware that things can go wrong resulting in a patient feeling that they have a genuine cause for complaint. If this is so, we would wish for the matter to be settled as quickly, and as amicably, as possible.

To pursue a complaint please contact the practice manager who will deal with your concerns appropriately. Further written information is available regarding the complaints procedure from reception.

Violence Policy

The NHS operate a zero tolerance policy with regard to violence and abuse and the practice has the right to remove violent patients from the list with immediate effect in order to safeguard practice staff, patients and other persons. Violence in this context includes actual or threatened physical violence or verbal abuse which leads to fear for a person’s safety. In this situation we will notify the patient in writing of their removal from the list and record in the patient’s medical records the fact of the removal and the circumstances leading to it.

Chaperone policy

It is the policy of this practice to respect the privacy, dignity, religious and cultural beliefs of our patients.  If a patient requests an appointment with a doctor of the same sex as the patient we will do our best to offer one but this may involve a delay in getting.an appointment. We will provide a trained chaperone to be present during any consultation at the surgery if a patient so requests. In certain circumstances the doctor will offer a chaperone or, to avoid any misunderstanding, may himself ask for a chaperone to be present.
