The latest guidance from the Government has changed.

If you have either:

  1. A raised temperature or fever and/ or
  2. A new continuous cough and/or
  3. Loss of sense of smell and taste

And you are so ill that you've stopped doing your usual daily activities

 You must call 111 and speak to a nurse

(The phone will be very busy but you need to wait to speak to someone)

 You need to stay away from other people until you have spoken to 111 (self-isolate)

 To protect others DO NOT GO to a GP, pharmacy or hospital

 NHS 111 also has an interactive online coronavirus service that can tell you if you need medical help and advise you what you need to do.

If you require urgent medical assistance, which is not life threatening but cannot wait until the surgery re-opens, please dial 111.  Calls to the NHS111 service are free from both landlines and mobiles.  For a life threatening medical emergency dial 999.

PATIENT PARTICIPATION GROUP                                 
We need some volunteers to join our Patient Participation Group to help us to ensure that we are providing the services you need from us. We would like to be able to contact patients to ask them questions about the surgery. If you can spare a little time please complete the form below or ask for one from reception.

We are pleased to announce that Dr Dita Fridrichova has joined the practice covering Dr Lindford's maternity leave.

We are pleased to announce that we now have two registrars, two physiotherapists and two paramedic practitioners working with us at the practice

If you have either:

 If you have these symptoms, however mild, stay at home and do not leave your house for 14 days from when your symptoms started. You do not need to call NHS 111 to go into self-isolation. If your symptoms worsen during home isolation or are no better after 14 days, contact NHS 111 online. If you have no internet access, you should call NHS 111. For a medical emergency dial 999

Uttlesford Community Response has been set up for the following two things:

1. To help direct residents who need support, such as picking up shopping or prescription collections, towards services which can help or to someone who can be a telephone or Facebook friend.

2. To provide advice on where to register your offer of help to support your community.

 In an effort to attempt to limit foot fall into the surgery and on the advice of NHS England we are triaging all patients by telephone call with one of our Clinicans, if you need medical advice please telephone and ask for a telephone consultation.

The NHS in Essex and Public Health England (PHE) are well prepared for outbreaks of new infectious diseases. The NHS has put in place measures to ensure the safety of all patients and NHS staff while also ensuring services are available to the public as normal.

Everyone is reminded to follow Public Health England advice to:

  • Always carry tissues with you and use them to catch your cough or sneeze. Then bin the tissue, and wash your hands, or use a sanitiser gel.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after using public transport. Use a sanitiser gel if soap and water are not available.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.
  • Avoid close contact with people who are unwell.




Sepsis is a rare but serious complication of an infection. Without quick treatment, sepsis can lead to multiple organ failure and death. If you are worried about possible symptoms or would like further information, please visit:


All practices are required to allocate a named accountable GP to all patients, including children. All patients of Crocus Medical Practice have been allocated a accountable GP however this does not prevent you from seeing any other GP at the practice. If you would like to know who your named GP is please ask when you next attend or speak to someone at the surgery.

Routine Appointments

You can now see a GP, Nurse/Healthcare Assistant outside of the surgery opening hours.

The West Essex evening & weekend appointments are provided by HUC (Hertfordshire Urgent Care)

offers additional, pre-booked appointments at convenient times to suit your needs. 

These operate from 6 Locations  across Epping Forest, Harlow and Uttlesford and appointments are booked through your GP practice. It is not a ‘walk-in’ service and is for booked appointments only.

Evening and Weekend GP appointments are available seven days a week for all patients, during the following times:


-       Weekdays between 18.00 – 22.00

-       Saturdays and Sundays

You can now see a GP or another healthcare professional on weekday evenings and weekends. To book an appointment, please call the surgery.

If you have booked an evening or weekend appointment in West Essex via your GP surgery and need to cancel or change it, please ring NHS111 and select option 3.
